well as I sit here enjoying my glass of Chardonnay I realized I have not been on here for a while. Believe me there are good reasons. Halloween is such a big holiday in our house and we have been busy getting ready for our annual Halloween party. Trying to get my adorable hubby to find a costume that is "just right" was a trick that we have finally accomplished. YAY! My costume is still laying in pieces waiting patiently to be assembled. I am going as Marie Antionette after the beheading! So daily I have sought out the perfect dress for the ensemble and finally caved and realized I just have to sew one. Staring at the pieces today made me realize this is going to be one amazing costume! Or was it when I was standing in my living room with my top half wrapped in duct tape? Nothing kinky here I was making a torso for my headless costume! So to all my friends out here in blog land that is what I have been working so hard on lately! I hope to have more stuff up soon for you to enjoy!
I have to attach the hangers and paint the top nub black but these guys are really coming along nicely! The green and blue ornaments are 4" tall by 2" wide and the big angry pink guy is 4.75" tall by 2.5" wide.
I also wanted to experiment with layering clay over old christmas bulbs and came up with this little red guy. This one is 3" tall by 1.5" wide. You can see the size difference here and I will add the sealant to this one most likely tomorrow.
Hope you all enjoy these as much as I have been. : )
So I bought some air dry clay and I have been playing with it non-stop. Yesterday I realize my thumb has been super achey on my right hand. My dominant hand! Then I noticed that I have some acute swelling in my right forearm! Awesome! I thought I would wait it out and see if it goes away but today still there. So now I have been ordered by my hubby to take a break from clay for a few days and see if that helps the overuse injury! Ah the things we do for our craft! So that is where I am right now. No painting, or sculpting :( for a few days to maybe get this injury healed. Oh well at least I can spend some time with my attention starved doggie Reeses.
Well gang she is done. I tried to sculpt her hat and it just looked well rediculous so I decided to sew one. She is indeed happy with the results.
Alos I am currently working on some figurines for my kids of them in their Halloween costumes. They are in all stages of sculpting right now and I am attempting to use air dry clay for the first time ever!
My favorite characters from that movie definately are Lock, Shock, and Barrel. As I sat watching this movie this evening I decided I wanted to capture them in clay. This is my tribute to Tim Burton who's art inspires me everyday! My 10 year old is an expert in all things Tim Burton and these come with her seal of approval. "Mommy, these are AWESOME!" Thanks Kiwi! Love ya!
Enjoy! They will be on Etsy tomorrow, the whole set will be listed at $30.00.
Pierce used to be such a sweet baby pumpkin. Well all that has changed! He no longer even calls himself a pumpkin. He now uses the term "PUNKIN". It all started the first time he hear Marilyn Manson being blared from the speakers of a passing car. Soon he was wearing guy liner, black lipstick, and wearing one white contact. Then came the nose piercing and the eyebrow... then he cut his stem into a Mohawk! Oh Pierce what ever will we do with you? Oh but I didn't tell you the worst thing he's done. He came home the other day after some early Halloween shenanigans with a tattoo. That's right a TATTOO! on his backside!
I am giving away set of my spider Halloween ornaments! That is 3 beaded spiders! Ok here is the way to win! Leave a comment about you favorite Halloween. Oh and be sure to tell all your friends about the contest and then on Friday OCt. 15th 2010. I will draw a name to win the spider ornaments.
But wait there's more! I will also be drawing a name to win a pair of my spider earrings!
The winner gets to specify color!
Most of the stuff I make gets an awesome rating from my super supportive husband but every once in a while I make something that he decides to keep. That is what happened with the latest Make-Do I have been working on. He creeps up behind me and stares in amazment while I work and when I turn around he kind of acts like a kid getting caught doing something wrong. I love him what can I say.
Here is the one he won't let go! and of course my wonderful hubby!
First off nothing says autumn like a chilly day at the pumpkin patch. My sister and her boyfriend and my nephew and niece all went yesterday. It was fun watching them pick pumpkins for the first time and we even won a free pumpkin for getting all the clues in the 9 MILE LONG corn maze! It was a good day and I know the kids had fun.
Also Miss Hagatha has been coming out of her shell and getting closer and closer to completion. Here she is as of today. She reminds me of an escapee from a mental institution! Enjoy
I thought I would share with you all today the journey of my newest sculpt. She is still in the middle stages and drying is becoming unbearable. I just want to see her complete!! I will show you the progress so far and be sure to let me know what you think. She is going to be a lovely addition to a very lucky persons collection! Enjoy!!! Till next time!
Been super busy lately it seems. I never feel like I have enough time in the day. Here is my new WIP and she is going to be a beauty when she's done. I can't wait. She was one of my many head I posted a week ago or so. She is drying more now but I am in love already! Mr. Bonejangles has arms and hands and is getting his sand on today and then look out paint here he come. I am really excited about this guy. He has been a brain racker since inception on notebook paper with crayon.
Also got a new little pumpkin done. He was ever so patient and after he is sealed he will be ready to go to a new home when someone adopts him.
Till then I leave you with pics and a Have A GREAT Friday!
